Today I am GRATEFUL for:

imageThe hem of His garment

20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.  21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”  22 Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment.  Matthew 9:20-22.

What reassuring words, “and the woman was healed at that moment. ” Not tomorrow, not next week, not next year; at…that…moment. He says I don’t have to do anything else. Nothing, zero, zilch, nada! Faith is all it takes. I am so very grateful for that fact. His Word is always true and He still works miracles every day. I want this “hem of His garment” kind of faith.

Eating Clean. I try to do this. I shop organic, buy grass fed beef and pork and free range chickens. I even buy my eggs from a friend who raises chickens. They are the best. I try to grow my own veggies, but I haven’t had much luck the past couple of years.

I can say that since I began thinking about this and avoiding foods that I know have been genetically modified, or covered with harmful chemicals, I feel much better. My mind is clearer, sharper, my skin brighter and better hydrated. I am still working on eating healthy and researching what is best for me. I do sometimes fall back into old patterns, especially when I am not feeling well. I do sometimes drink soda, even knowing that it is so bad for me. It seems to call my name. And popcorn…. oh no, football food got me again.

I need to replace these things that are my weaknesses with simpler, fresher and rawer things that are good for me. I also need to get up earlier so I can walk every day that I don’t have Aqua Arthritis class scheduled. I’ve been slacking since vacation to Alabama. Back on track starting tomorrow. Thankful that I am learning and that I don’t beat myself up when I slip. Well, not too much anyway.

People who are generous in spirit. There are several people in my life who go above and beyond in the generous spirit department time and time again. I watch them give and share and motivate others to use their talents to help others and I am in awe.

Proverbs 11:25. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Proverbs 22:9. The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.

Today I acknowledge their generosity, and I will follow their example and be more generous in spirit myself.

Who do you know that is generous in spirit? Take some time today and thank them for all they do.

Father, today I am praying that you help me build my faith. I want to have faith enough that all I need is to touch the hem of Your garment. If there is a specific place you want me to use the talents You gave me, please show me Your will. Please, dear Father, help me be strong enough to overcome the temptations to eat and drink things that are unhealthy.
