Today I am GRATEFUL for:

In the blink of an eye”

Scripture:  I love that no matter what I am feeling, or what my need, or problem is at any given moment, the solution is always found in God’s Word.  In this day of electronic “magic” I can find the exact verse I need in the blink of an eye. Years ago it took a lot more work with a very large concordance. I am basically lazy, so the instant answer suits me well. I have an electronic Bible on my iPad, which is great. Also, sometimes I can remember a phrase, or a word or two of a scripture and I can search the Internet using just those few words in quotes and it gets me right to what I am looking for.

Try this in a Google search

“in the blink of an eye” scripture

you will see how easy it is.

a strong word of caution…this also generates links to many interpretations of a scripture. Read with discernment.  Ask God to show you what He wants you to learn.  I would recommend Proverbs 3:5-6.

My Backyard: This year the birds have been very busy in my yard. There are multiple nests, cardinals, jays, woodpeckers, and our state bird, the mocking bird. I even saw a hummingbird last week. I have had a small feeder on the patio and they really seem to like it. Needs to be filled daily. Bought a new, bigger one a couple of days ago and hung it on the front porch. Don’t think they like it there, so I just moved it back to the patio. It’s a very peaceful place, my backyard. Thank you God.

New life: We have a new addition to our family on the way.  I will leave it at that for now, but ask for your prayers on the mother and the beautiful new baby growing inside her. I am very excited. Love you “B”.

Footnote: I wish I knew what to write that might generate a response from someone reading this.  It would be so wonderful if my little blog led me to new friends.

Father thank you for knowing me so well, from the beginning, that you put the words I would need, for every situation, into the hearts of the writers of your love for me.  Forgive me for not spending more time in them and help me to make reading your words top priority in my day.

Thank you for the beautiful birds and frogs and lizards and all the other “critters” that visit my yard. I love how you care for them.

Father, God, I especially want to thank you for blessing our family with this new life. There hasn’t been a baby in our family for a very long time. I am rejoicing! Protect both through this pregnancy and bring us a beautiful, healthy baby in November.

IMG_0001My Brothers: I was watching a commercial a few nights ago, with two kids looking at the ornaments on a Christmas tree and became very nostalgic – filled with memories of Christmas in the 1950’s. I am the middle child and the only girl. My big brother, Michael, passed away a few years ago. Even though we were not very close as adults, I miss him and think about him often.

My baby brother, David, only lives about two miles from me, but life can be so hectic that we rarely get to see each other. He has a great job, but it requires a lot of travel.  He and his wife just bought property about thirty-five miles from here and are planning to move after the first of the year.  With as little as I get to see him now, I fear it will be even less in the future.

Holidays just aren’t the same any more.

This doesn’t sound grateful, I know. I am missing holidays past with the whole family together, opening presents, cooking and eating together.  But gratitude is what I feel. I thank God for the family he gave me.  For all the joys and sharing that we had when we were all together.  Those memories are precious to me. The best part is knowing that in the end, we will all be together again. Thank you Jesus!

Cinnamon toast: haven’t eaten homemade cinnamon toast in years. Man, that was delicious.

Getting Stronger: November was a bear of a month.  First the food poisoning which kept me sick and weak for almost two weeks.  Then a couple of good days, feeling better followed by two weeks + of the winter crud. I am still taking antibiotics, but I am starting to think maybe I have got this one beat!  Please keep me on your prayer lists that the worst is past and that Christmas break will be filled with fun and friends – no sick bed.

Heavenly Father, thank you so much for the family you gave me.  My parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. brothers and cousins, all showed me what love is, and shared Your love with me to be sure I knew who You are. I will always be truly grateful for all You have given me.

Bless my sweet baby girl and her fiance’ as they build a life together. May they know to always keep You at the center of their lives.

Today, as every day, I ask that You place Your healing hands on so many of my friends that are hurting.  There is loss and illnesses and hardships throughout my circle of friends and I pray peace and comfort for all of them.

Father God, I especially ask again for you to touch D&D with healing and peace that they will know that You are in control of it all.  I love D so much and my heart breaks for what they are going through, but I know that You are there with them through it all.

IMG_2991Newest member of my family: I have a new cousin. Her name is Elsie and she is a beauty. Actually, she is my third cousin. New life is a wonderful thing. I wish they didn’t live so far away so I could actually hold her.  Her Grandmother and I are the best of friends. If I had a sister I couldn’t love her more. Wish she lived closer so I could hug her.

This is a picture of a small gift I made for her. She looks so cute wearing it.

Safety of students, faculty and staff at Florida State University. What happened in Tallahassee last night could have been so much worse.  I woke up at 4:30 this morning and turned on the local news as I do every morning. I immediately was concerned for all the students there, but especially for the daughter of one of my dearest friends who is a senior at FSU.  I didn’t want to call her that early, but was so relieved when I texted her at 8:00 and she texted back that her daughter was safe.  There are still a lot of unanswered questions about the motive or cause of this senseless violent act, but I am just so thankful that it wasn’t any worse.  Please remember the FSU family in your prayers, especially the one student that is still in critical condition.

Chappells Heating and Air:  They replaced the thermostat on my central heat and air yesterday and now the unit will turn off when it reaches the temperature set.  Yay! My electric bill should reflect that next month.

Father, God, tonight I lift up to you all the families affected by the shooting at FSU.  Please place your healing hand on the student that is still in critical condition.  Be with all the students as they work through this.  Bless sweet Elsie and her entire family.  Thank you for service companies that I can always count on to treat me fairly, like Chappells.

As always, I love you and praise your name, and thank you for all the blessings in my life.
